Brazilian Wax Or Bikini Wax, What's The Difference?

Wednesday, 23 June 2010 13:20

Whether you are a man or woman and your appearance is an important matter, you will be reluctant to settle for second best. There are alternatives if you have ever suffered through a bad wax job.

Being an informed consumer, will allow a much better treatment the next time.

What exactly is a Brazilian wax?

A Brazilian wax is a method in which all hair in your pelvic region, front and back will be removed. Often a bikini wax will be confused with a Brazilian wax.

A bikini wax removes much less hair, usually only the hair that has grown beyond a bikini area.

Different types of wax can be used so that a Brazilian wax is not so scary.

Each kind of wax has a different consistency. If you have ever bought one of the store brand "wax kits", you probably did not receive the results that you had expected. A professional that gives a Brazilian wax treatment will provide far better results. A Brazilian wax that is given at a med spa or skin care clinic usually has two types of wax that can be used. The two most common types of wax are the hard wax and the strip wax.

If you need a large area treated, then a strip wax would be more beneficial. Strip wax has a stickier consistency and will allow the professional to place strips of fabric upon the wax. In a scene in the movie "The Forty Year Old Virgin," Steve Carroll is shown receiving a chest wax and crying like a baby for his mom.

A "strip wax" treatment is a powerful wax job. If you have a sensitive skin type, hard wax may be administered in the more sensitive areas of your body. The following areas benefit from hard wax: inner or upper thighs, eyelids, and other oh so tender spots. The professional will prepare hard wax by melting the wax in a heating unit and then applying the melted wax with a wooden applicator.

The wax is then allowed to dry and with a gentle lift the hard wax and the hair will be removed.

Your can ask your aesthetician before your Brazilian wax, what type of wax they plan on using. Hard wax is typically used in a sensitive area and a strip wax is used in the bikini zone. If you have sensitive skin, they will be able to use hard wax for your entire treatment.

Skin RN Aethetics offers the following types of every imaginable waxing treatments including brow waxing, arm waxing, leg waxing, bikini waxing and Brazilian waxing.
